    The U.S. energy sector, including oil and gas producers, was hit by more targeted malware attacks from April to September last year than any other industry, says a new Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) report, citing data from a Houston-based security company, Alert Logic. U.S. oil and natural gas operations are increasingly vulnerable to cyber attacks that can lead to costly outages at pipelines, refineries or drilling platforms, it says.

    (Reuters) - Private equity company Warburg Pincus is leading an investment of up to $600 million in Delonex Energy, a newly formed oil and gas exploration and production company planning to tap into the central and east African hydrocarbon boom. The region has become hot property for energy investors after gas discoveries in Mozambique and Tanzania, and other hydrocarbon finds in Uganda and Kenya. However, progress towards production, notably in Uganda, has taken years.

    ENNISKILLEN, Northern Ireland—The U.S. and the European Union on Monday said they would start talks to build a free-trade agreement to boost growth and create jobs across the Atlantic—a deal that officials hope will strengthen the world's biggest two-way economic relationship. The talks' launch was announced by U.S. President Barack Obama, European Commission President José Manuel Barroso, European Council President Herman Van Rompuy and U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron, who spoke in a joint news conference ahead of a meeting here of leaders from the Group of Eight.
